To live a fulfilling life, we must approach it with an open heart and be ready to assist those in need without showing any biases. The act of writing is a humbling mystery, as it requires sifting through heaps of words to find the one that matters. The central goal of this book is to encourage individuals to gain self-knowledge and allow their heart to be their guide. Remaining authentic, open, and vulnerable is key to achieving this goal. However, the journey to authenticity cannot be bypassed, as many individuals, including the author, have struggled with pleasing others and lost sight of their true selves.
In my youth, I lost myself in others and spent years defining myself based on my differences, only to realize that my true identity is rooted in my connection to all living beings. Along my journey of self-discovery, I learned that no one can teach us how to be human or how to empathize with others; these lessons are taught by love and suffering. Despite the various spiritual traditions that aim to help us embrace life, we often resist and engage in arguments with the world. However, the challenge is to approach life with an open heart, without any biases or preferences. Although we cannot escape the weight of living, we are not alone, and we must teach kindness and love to future generations. Our ability to bear witness to our pain and rise above it with honesty and tenderness is the deep remedy we need to rekindle the kindness we so lack in this wounded world.
If we equate Hell with the feeling of never being complete, then Heaven is the state of being fully alive by eliminating any false or restricted ways of thinking or feeling. Our heart acts as the intangible bridge that allows us to undertake this journey. If we are fortunate enough, our heart work will take us one step closer to Heaven every day, leading us out of Hell. While I wish I could take you to this place, I am still on my way.
Now that I have exhausted all my words, I offer you a small poem that I hope will inspire you to listen to your heart's guidance throughout your lifetime:
A Poem: Inside Everything
By trying to conceal ourselves, eventually,
we become a wall.
By trying to love, eventually,
we become love.
Our life's journey is to stop hiding and become love.
Anything else is merely a temptation and a diversion.
To remain steadfast is an act of courage.
