Do you experience sleepwalking? Sleepwalking, also known as somnambulism, refers to a phenomenon occurring during deep sleep, wherein individuals engage in activities such as walking or performing tasks while still asleep.


From a spiritual perspective, sleepwalking can be interpreted as active participation in a spiritual encounter during sleep. While the body rests, the spirit remains active and alert. During this time, the connection between the body and spirit may diminish or become disconnected, leading the body to act on the thoughts of the spirit.

Various factors, including insufficient sleep, stress, alcohol consumption, certain medications, and other sleep disorders like obstructive sleep apnea or restless legs syndrome, may trigger or exacerbate sleepwalking episodes.


In severe instances, sleepwalking may lead individuals to undertake complex actions, potentially posing risks such as leaving the house or driving a vehicle. Despite having their eyes open, individuals who sleepwalk may appear unresponsive to others and fail to recognize their surroundings.


Most instances of sleepwalking typically endure for less than 10 minutes, although some may persist for longer periods. Upon the conclusion of each episode, the individual may either awaken or return to bed and resume sleeping.

When encountering someone who is sleepwalking, it is crucial to ensure their safety. If left undisturbed, individuals prone to sleepwalking will often naturally return to sleep. Guiding them gently back to bed while providing reassurance is advisable. Avoid shouting or startling the individual, and refrain from attempting physical restraint unless their safety is at risk, as they may react defensively.


According to spiritual doctrine, even actions performed under the influence of a ghost entail karmic or spiritual consequences for the individual. These consequences manifest as negative outcomes either in the present life or in subsequent incarnations.
