Navigating the illumination phase of a twin-flames relationship can be challenging and overwhelming if one is unprepared for it. It is important to note that the progression of this phase, as well as any other stage, is not linear and can vary depending on the couple and their circumstances and spiritual growth.
The illumination phase acts as a connection between surrender and union, serving as a bridge between these two states. When I experienced the illumination stage in 2016, I initially believed that it marked the imminent marriage between us. However, this phase lasted approximately five months without us physically meeting.
Although we eventually met face to face, it did not signify the final union we had anticipated. Instead, we entered into several separation cycles. Interestingly, even during these periods of separation, we remained mentally, emotionally, and spiritually aligned.

In that answer, I describe the different stages of the twin flame union based on my understanding:
Stage 1: Recognition, awareness, and awakening.
This stage is often referred to as the first reunion stage. It occurs when you encounter your twin flame in this lifetime. However, the twin flame union has existed across all of your lifetimes. Hence, this meeting will not feel like a first encounter at all. It may be your first date or initial interaction, but from the moment you meet, you experience an "Ah-Hah" moment!

Leaving this initial encounter, you regain faith in true love and finally accept that you are worthy of an amazing person in your life. This awakening marks the realization of a relationship you never thought possible. You instantly recognize the other person as your "other half," sharing similar interests, speaking comparably, and understanding you in a way no other relationship ever has. It resembles the honeymoon phase of any relationship but with a deeper sense of an unconditional twin flame love igniting—a love that transcends the physical world, yet faces challenges along the way.
These challenges may not be physical but rather tests from a life perspective. This stage signifies the testing phase of the twin flame union, where the initially enamored fades and the Ego emerges. You may find yourself becoming annoyed by every little thing they do. Moreover, life may introduce temptations for both of you. It is during this stage that you are faced with the choice of staying true to the connection.
